We have family in Hermosa Beach so we stay here fairly often. The overall architectural theme in most of the so-called "Beach Towns" south of LA is suburban sprawl which is quickly being replaced by glitzy beach-style McMansions. Hermosa Beach, incorporated in 1907, still has tiny beach cottages, often wedged between apartment buildings or fancy new homes. They range from lovely owner-occupied homes, to kitschy cottages, to spare-looking rentals and everything in between. You can often spot them because they may be hiding behind the only large trees on a street. The land is increasingly valuable so I am not sure how long they will be around. It is fun to think about how Hermosa must have looked when it was all cottages!
